Had to go to Doctor today to get antibotics for a toe infection, I was worried it might be a start to an ulcer, luckly for me it wasn't. I've had leg ulcer's and dread the thought of getting them again.
To top of my day my wheelchair therapist rang to ask how I am getting on with the custom made cushion. This cushion was custom made for me from faom and has been adjusted about 5 times. First thing she asked was: are you at home? I said yes, she asked have I got your right phone number blah and I said yes, she asked if I was on the Internet and I said yes, she goes well that explains it then... I said to myself huh what are you going on about. I said to her, it doesn't matter if I am on the internet, I can still use the phone and I have been out today and sometimes I can't get to the phone in time or am not available to answer the phone. For goodness sake, you think someone in her job field would understand that!!!
She asked me how the cushion went and that we need to close my case as it's been open for a long time. I said that I got sore again and uncomfortable etc. Basically she interupted me as I spoke and asked me again and I said I'm trying to explain to you. She asked me where I was sore and I told her. She asked me to tell her excatly where I was sore, trying to tell her over the phone was hard, let alone her butting in and asking me more questions. I told her what I think the problem is, and she disagree's with me and said she won't argue about it.. I was like ohhh ok I was only saying what I thought was wrong. She won't listen to me. If I am the person sitting on the cushion 24/7 then I'm sure to know what is wrong. I asked her to orgainse a meeting with the custom tech people to come and see me on the cushion and see for themselves what is happening and what is not right. I am having to tell my therapist, then she is telling them, not sure if the correct messages are being passed on. She won't orgainse a meeting.
As far as closing my case as it's been open for a long time, I don't care!! I don't want to be left with a cushion that I get sore on and end up with pressure sores. I said I want to be comfortable before you close my case, that should be the priority here, not how long my case is open. Maybe it's been open long as the therapist working with me before her, broke her thumb and I had to wait for my new therapist to come and there have been issues of ordering a new chair that has to be right for me, and working out which way to go for seating and her for only working 3 days a week!!
I am going to complain tomorow to the top Therapist as she has said to me that I can ring her if thing's are not going right or need help for anything. I've had enough, its been getting to me and I've felt like I'm getting to the stage where I am going to blow up at my therapist.
Let's face it -- English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France. Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat.
We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig. And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese?
Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend, that you comb through annals of history but not a single annal? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it? If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? If you wrote a letter, perhaps you bote your tongue?
Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Send shipments by car and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell?
How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and wise guy are opposites? How can overlook and oversee be opposites, while quite a lot and quite a few are alike? How can the weather be hot as hell one day and cold as hell another?
Have you noticed that we talk about certain things only when they are absent? Have you ever seen a horseful carriage or a strapful gown? Met a sung hero or experienced requited love? Have you ever run into someone who was combobulated, gruntled, ruly or peccable? And where are all those people who ARE spring chickens or who would ACTUALLY hurt a fly?
You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which an alarm clock goes off by going on.
English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race (which, of course, isn't a race at all). That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible. And why, when I wind up my watch, I start it, but when I wind up this essay, I end it.
Went to see War of Worlds and it was awesome!! Great effects and Tom Cruise acted very well, bought tears to my eyes in the movie I had my usual popcorn and ate it all. There was only three of watching the movie.
Well life in the last two days has been busy. A bit of shopping, getting tubes for psp, making some graphic tags, reading Harry Potter and installing plugins into psp, kinda got crazy here adding loads of them.
A guy from Housing NZ finally came over to check the smoke alarms and other things. I said to him, I've had problems with the smoke alarms going off all week due to the oven being opened, cooking in the kitched etc. All he cared about was that the smoke alarms were 'working' and if he left the place with them not working he would loose his job. He even said, "if someone took the battreys out after I left (which I wouldn't allow) and there was a fire, and you died, then my job would be gone!" He didn't care about what I was trying to point out to him, he kept speaking over the top of me...I really hate that!!! He left saying they all work. I gave up in the end.
My friend Mandy told me about Chocolate Kahlua Cake and I so wanted to make one. I made one tonight :) I ran out of Kahlua so I topped it up with more Vodkia hehe. I put some chocolate icing on top too and it melted nicley down the side of the cake.
A lazy day today as I don't feel like doing a lot. It is cold outside and the rain is on and off. Right now I'm watching Big Brother which is neat and Casey is also sitting on my lap keeping me warm and keeping herself warm lol. Will read some more Harry Potter and maybe make some graphic's using psp.
I play Electric Wheelchair Sports and really enjoy it. I am in a New Zealand Auckland Power Black Sports Team. I am the only 'feamle' player in the Power Blacks team, the youngest player is 11yrs old. I am also the Captian on the team.
Team Logo
I represent NZ and compete against the six states called Victoria Vipers, New South Wales Colts, Queensland Gladiators, Western Wasps, South Australia Scorpions and the ACT Wheelers of Australia in their National Electric Wheelchair Sports in Australia.
I play hockey, soccer and rugby. I have been competing in Australia for 11 years now. I have been to Canberra, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. Last year 2004, I wasamong a group who were awarded a special badge for 10 years participation at the N.E.W.S tournament.
To be able to compete in N.E.W.S you need to have a Neuromuscular Condition and use a powerchair for every day mobility.
Hockey is similar to the average hockey games you see out there, except we use light plastic hockey sticks and a plastic ball. I am one of the forward wings so my job is to score some goals and it can get tricky at times, sometimes I have to lift the ball up and over the goalies hockey stick or footplates to score.
Balloon Soccer is played with a big balloon that the players header it around or use there chairs to hit it, ball can also pop too lol with a loud bang! My position in soccer is to stay back and feed the balloon to the rest of the team so they can score the goals.
Rugby is a full on game, you need to read ahead of the game and pass fast and score some tries. We don’t use a rugby ball, we wear bibs with numbers on it, and to pass the imaginary ball, you need to call the persons number, they then say ‘got it’ then they go for the tri line or get tackled.
Wheelchair sports is a huge part of my life, it’s a chance to build my confidence and compete with others of a similar age and condition, keeps me physically and mentally active, and gives me a great goal to work towards. My favorite sport is hockey, then balloon soccer then rugby.
What an adrenalin rush racing around the racetrack in a Ferrari going 250km!!! As the ferrari hugged the corners, I hugged the passenger side door feeling the grip of the ferrari going around the corners..what a buzz!!
This is the Ferrari I went in, nice looking, don't ya think..
Here is a heap of Ferrari's that turned up, see the second blue ferrari, well that's another one I went in, it's a bit older and slower but nice to ride in.
Had to show this pic, it's the Ferrari F40..nice. At the last Ferrari Day I went to they had the Ferrari F50, it was very nice.
I started my tblog on the 23 June 2005 after a friend of mine told me about it, so here I am blogging away every day. I love the colour purple so I've made my layout purple and black which goes well together. I have been told it looks great and stands out well. I created my own banner too which I was pleased about, it's better to have your own images that bought ones from tblog. I have made a few friends here and got a few friends creating there own blogs too lol, it's like a chain.
I have entered the Featured Blogs for the first time and I'd appreciate your comments and a vote if you wish too :) Thanks
Life with a physical disability can be a challenge at times along with many barriers every day, but life is always something to enjoy. You only live once, so enjoy every moment of the day, who knows if tomorow will arrive. Yes, I have a physical disability and use a powerchair for my day to day mobility. I have a Neuromusclar condition which is slowly progressive. I don't dwell on my disability, I get on with life, that's why I'm here...right.
During a normal day I have to deal with some barriers like changing a light bulb which is easy for some. I have to wait till an ablebodied person comes over and ask them to change it for me. I sat in the lounge a couble nights without light lol, just use my tv as a light hehe. Other things are when the smoke alarms decide to go off due to burnt toast or the steam from the kitchen or shower, I can't turn the silly thing off, just have to let it ring and ring till it goes off. I get used to this and it's just something I cope with.
I love shopping..of course..and I love to spend money. I don't window shop..what is window shopping lol.. I used to do my groccery shopping on my own, I would hold the trolley with my arm and use the momentum of my powerchair to keep it rolling next to me, using my hand to steer it. People would move out the way sometimes to help me get past, some would stop and look at me, so I would speed up with my chair, let the trolley go and grab the front handle bar of the trolley so I am wheeling behind it, which is harder for me. I ask people to reach items for me and most are willing to help which is really nice of them. I now shop with my Dad as it's a lot easier for me and quicker. I always do my shopping after my wheelchair sports.
Just some things I have to deal with day to day in life, but I don't let that bother me. I enjoy life and live on just like any of you out there, we are the same, just physcially different.
It's wise to remember how easily this wonderful technology can be misused, sometimes unintentionally, with serious consequences.
Consider the case of the Illinois man who left the snow-filled streets of Chicago for a vacation in Florida. His wife was on a business trip and was planning to meet him there the next day. When he reached his hotel, he decided to send his wife a quicke-mail. Unable to find the scrap of paper on which he had written her e-mail address, he did his best to type it in from memory.
Unfortunately, he missed one letter, and his note was directed instead to an elderly preacher's wife, whose husband had passed away only the day before. When the grieving widow checked her e-mail, she took one look at the monitor, let out a piercing scream, and fell to the floor in a dead faint.
At the sound, her family rushed into the room and saw this note on the screen:
Dearest Wife,
Just got checked in. Everything prepared for your arrival tomorrow.
Today I was doing my PSP lesson 4 which covered making transparency backgrounds and adding an image to it, graphic size and compression, making thumbnails and using the clone tool. I was making a transparent background image which I did fine but when trying to save it into a gif, my transparent graphic went all white. I tried all different things, making more graphics and trying things on those. I got so frustrated I had to take a break from the computer and cook my dinner. I came back to it after dinner and figured it out after reading over some of the lesson. I found out that after saving a transparent background image as a gif, the background goes black. So when I open the gif in psp again it will have a background image. I uploaded it to my homework site and its transparent..wahoooo*dances around the room*
I have added one of my favorite songs on my blog as you can hear..for those that have sound lol. I'm interested to know if music is a good thing or not so good to have on a blog, does it drive you away from reading my blog?
Please leave me your comments on having music on a blog, thanks
Well I finally finished NeoQuest1 and got my Silver Trophy!! It was a mission I tell ya for those that play the game on neopets. I was in the Two Rings Palace at level 48, trying to get to level 50 which is the last level. I died twice in the Palace as I spared using the healing potions too much, but I am glad I did in the end. When I died I was taken back to Neopia City which is in the middle of the game, and I had to make my way back to where I died. While doing this I topped up on more potions. After finally reaching level 50, I was able to head to the last Boss and fight him.
I have 270 Hit Points along with my skills. I got to the last boss who is Jahbal who has 700 Hit Points and begin the fight, it was a tough fight as he kept healing and stunning me for three rounds, I managed to save myself using some healing potions and won the fight!! I was like wahoo..I've won the game and now have my trophy and can stop playing. But when I clicked on the continue button, I found myself facing another Boss called Mastermind, I go what the heck?? so I had to fight him and he had 1000 Hit Points :O I managed to beat him and finally win the game.
This morning I have been doing my first lesson in PSP 201 course and this was my homework
and this
not sure what happened to this as it's still got the purple background around it. I was practicing with the magic wand and selection tools. OK I had to change it so I have now cropped it and here is the better look..LOL...
Yep went shopping today :) Picked up my Harry Potter book which was on pre-order. The books are NZ$29.95 for the next two weeks then they will go back to there normal price of NZ$42.95, so if you reading this and in New Zealand, then go get your book now before the offer closes!!
I also bought a new Uniden phone as my phone has had it, so its all set up and on charge. I had a nice lunch out with my Mum and Dad too :) I had Sirloin Steak, mashed potatos shaped as a pear and some vegs :) It was yummy.
Well I was playing NeoQuest1 this morning and I died and was brought back to the middle of the game, so I had to make my way back to where I was, will try and finish the game tomorow.
I'm sitting in front of the heater watching Men in Black and listening to the thunder and rain outside. Casey my cat is sleeping on my warm bed :)
Wahooo I'm picking up my 'Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince' book tomorow and I can't wait :D I will get reading as soon as I get home :P
Any guesses as to who the 'half blood prince' will be? Leave me a comment for me to see I think it could be Hagrid as he's half gaint, some guess Neville..
Went to see House of Wax tonight with a friend and it was a good scary movie!! My friend got so scared that he wanted to leave and I said no, just don't look :D I loved it :P Had my popcorn and a drink of coke which was all good.
YEA!!! The All Blacks did it again with another win of 38-19 against the Lions..WAY TO GO!! Interesting calls from the referee tonight I thought but thats the way it goes. Tense first 15 minutes though and good to see the Lions get a try.
I just flicked the tv channel to find a NEW FLASH happening on SkyNews LIVE about the bombing in Central London in England. Bomps exploded in the underground tube train station and on buses with about 90 people hurt and 2 people died. This is terrible!! It sounds like a terrorist attack and they might know who's behind it.
My heart goes out to all those injured and to all the families
NO WAY!!!! The program LOST was soooo good tonight and ended like this...They are NOT the Surviours they thought they were!! Next series in 2006!! Awww that totally sux, right in the middle of a good part too. That's 5months away till 2006 let alone when it will begin in 2006.
Talk about a wet and cold day so I sat in front of my heater all morning while doing my psp lesson 4 and playing neopets.
Last night I was playing in psp and I clicked on the Picture Tube Tool to add a white star to a graphic I made, the picture tube loaded 98% then gave me PSP Not Responding and closed down. This happened again, I rebooted my computer and tried again, the same thing happened. I tried a few things to set my PSP back to default and that didn't solve the problem. I then uninstalled PSP, rebooted and then installed psp 9 and updated it. Tried the picture tube tool again and it failed!!!! What is going on???? :(
Right, I'm off to watch LOST :) Isn't it exciting..wonders if there be a LOST 2
Hey Everyone, I'm doing a free online Paint Shop Pro 9 (PSP) Course which incolves my Tutor emailing me my Lessons and it's a lot of fun!! I have used PSP 8 before and now I have PSP 9 so I am updating my skills on the tools and what I can create using the tools. I have just done a lesson on creating banners using cutouts, chisels, buttonise and drop shadow on text, there is more to these tools than I realised.
I have wanted my own banner for this tblog and I asked a blogger friend and was told how to get a banner and as you can see, I have a nice banner above, and it goes really well with my colour scheme..I was impressed with my own work!
wahoo the All Blacks beat the Lions team 48-18 :D and talk about a tense game at the beginning. The Lions scored there first try in the first 2 minutes of the game  It was about 7-3 to the Lions early in the game till the All Blacks took control and scored some tries :D Way to go Carter! scoring wicked tries and getting almost all the conversations :D What an exciting game :D
The All Blacks have one more game against the Lions on 9 July :D
